The story of our rings

Please allow me to be a little self-indulgent here. I want to share the story of how BKDM and I picked out our rings.
In a time-honored tradition, we went to The Jeweler's Building in Boston's Downtown Crossing area.
There, we found a jewelry show room that is family owned and creates baubles to your very specifications called Hefez and Sons.
The man who helped us was a genius and figured out exactly what we wanted with only a few questions.
They will mount the diamond my father gave to my mother when they were engaged 55+ years ago. The picture above is a sample of the setting. It will look a little different with the Wood family stone in it.
We also picked BKDM's ring -- a large, weighty, platinum jobby. It fits him well.... so well that I don't think he'll ever be able to take it off, but that suits me just fine.
So, in 10 days, we'll be on step closer to getting married.

Nina Flowers, my one true love (spoiler alert)

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I have been watching RuPaul's Drag Race religiously every Monday and last night was no exception. It was the final show and even though Jason District will tell you that Rebecca Glasscock was his choice for the winner, I picked Nina Flowers as my favorite ages ago. On stage, she's fierce and punk and full of edge, channeling equal parts Grace Jones and Nina Hagen. But off stage, she is sweet as pie. And when the Puerto Rican comes out in full force, you know I am hooked.

But alas, my girl did not win. Scary Bebe did. I will not be going to Absolut Pride Fest now.

Sigh.

Nina/Jorge -- If you ever come to Boston to perform or to DJ, I'll be there in force.

Update 2: Dammit all to hell. DJ Flowers was here Saint Patrick's weekend and I missed it. Feck!

Lunch at the emerald rose

A few of us broke away from the office for an irish lunch. Its the meatloaf for me. If you can't tell from the photo, mona lisa has a guinness moustache!

This was Sunday's Fun Day

Davis Square Saint Pat's 5K run. BKDM was in the melee somewhere.
He finished respectably, despite his gimpy knee and then we hung out at my new favorite dive bar called the Sligo Pub,

This gem is a Mississippi mud bourbon chocolate pecan pie from Petsi's (pronounced pete-sees) Pies in Somerville.

View from my window. Will this winter never end?
BKDM is sick as a dog and I'm taking the day off the look after the fella. Plus, I don't really feel like dealing with those people at that place today.

The scene outside my office building. Snow piled up higher than the first floor. More snow is one the way this afternoon. BKDM is clearly the smarter of us... he stayed home today.
